Bondi Green | North Bondi Apartment
Ocean View, North Bondi, NSW | Residential Apartment Interior Design & Building Design
2023 - 2026
The North Bondi apartment was shaped by the client’s love of all things green. As the property is a rental, the design needed to remain largely neutral, but subtle touches of green were woven throughout to reflect the client’s personality — seen in the bathroom’s mosaic green tiles, the soft green accents of the arches, and layered details carried across the apartment.
Positioned at the very end of North Bondi Beach, in a pocket of the suburb defined by its interwar Art Deco apartment buildings. The design takes its cue from that local vernacular, translating it through curved arched openings; the apartment enjoys phenomenal views of the ocean. The chosen greens needed to complement the ever-changing blues of the water that future occupants will look out onto every day, creating a seamless dialogue between the interior and its iconic coastal backdrop.
This project presented unique challenges, including strata restrictions and ongoing issues with water ingress from the apartment above. Despite these complexities, the redesign delivers a fresh, balanced interior that feels both timeless and personal, with quiet injections of colour that elevate the neutral backdrop.

North Bondi is full of interwar Art Deco buildings that most people walk past without registering. I wanted the apartment to feel like it belonged to that lineage rather than sitting inside
it as a stranger.
The arches came first. Once we had the curved openings, the palette almost chose itself: pale teal, faded green, warm sand, off white. Those are the colours already in the street.
The apartment is at the very end of the beach, so the blue is the first thing you see in every room. We chose greens that shift with it, so the interior reads differently at eight in the morning than it does at five in the afternoon
The client's brief was essentially one word: green.
My job was to work out which greens, and how quietly they could be introduced without the whole apartment turning into a statement.
Green is easy to overdo. We layered it instead of applying it,
so it appears in the mosaic tile, in the soft edges of the
arches, in details you find on the second or third visit rather than the first.
Square is where the timber stopped. Curved is where we decided it should finish, so the handles carry the arch language through the apartment
